Nancy Mattingly, Southeast Missouri Hospital cancer program coordinator, has been appointed to coordinate both the hospital's inpatient and outpatient cancer patient care activities. She will assume her expanded responsibilities July 21.
Mattingly, who joined the hospital staff in 1977, has been cancer program coordinator since 1986, and has been involved with the "We Can Weekend," an annual retreat sponsored by the hospital and the American Cancer Society for cancer patients and their families, since 1983, and chairman of the program since 1987.
Her work with the American Cancer Society has resulted in a number of state cancer society awards, including the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Services in Cancer Control in 1994.
At Southeast, she serves as coordinator for the Reach to Recovery program for breast cancer patients and the breast cancer support group and as coordinator for the hospital's annual fall cancer symposium for physicians and annual Cancer Update seminar for nurses.
She is president-elect of the Southeast Missouri Chapter of Oncology Nursing Society.
A number of Mary Kay Cosmetics awards for outstanding sales achievements have been announced by senior sales director Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau during a recognition night ceremony held at Carbondale, Ill.
Donna Hutsell and Rhonda Rudloff were recognized for more than $7,200 in retail sales during the last quarter. Liz Helms sold more than $6,000 and Susan Wilson and Kay Waller each sold more than $3,000.
Mark Hitt, a Cape Girardeau native, has been promoted to coordinator of the Missouri Department of Agriculture's international marketing program, which helps generate millions of dollars in sales to Mexico, Taiwan and other foreign markets.
Hitt, a graduate of Southeast Missourian State University with a degree in agribusiness, has been with the state agriculture department for 12 years, most recently serving as assistant coordinator of the international marketing program.
As program administrator, Hitt supervises marketing staff in Jefferson City, as well as employees who run the department's trade offices in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Taipei, Taiwan.
Another agriculture department promotion places Jim Anderson of Holts Summit in charge of the marketing and research activities of the state's grape and wine program.
Anderson, a native of Troy, has a degree in agriculture from Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg.
Roy Hayes of Poplar Bluff has been selected as Missouri's Volunteer of the Year by the Internal Revenue Service, Kansas-Missouri District.
Hayes, 78, has volunteered for the American Association of Retired Persons Tax Aide program since 1985 and for the past two years has served as District 14 coordinator for 10 counties.
Hayes, who is retired from the U.S. Forest Service, served as school superintendent at Benton from 1952 to 1963 during the era when Kelly High School was built.
Hayes and his wife, Hortense, moved to Poplar Bluff following his retirement from the Forest Service.
J. Kensey, formerly of Cape Girardeau and now of Chillicothe, has been elected vice president of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, a 2,400-member association, headquartered at Jefferson City.
Russell is office manager of the Chillicothe branch office of Shafer, Kline & Warren, P.A.
He served as city engineer at Cape Girardeau from 1985 to 1996.
Russell, a registered land surveyor, has a degree in geological engineering from the University of Missouri-Roll, and a master's degree in public administration from Southeast Missouri State University.
He was a charter member of the Cape Girardeau Area Engineers Club, serving as its secretary and president. He is also a past president of the Missouri Highway Engineers Association.
Morgan and Carol Soaper, owners of Carol's Hallmark Shops in Cape Girardeau, Arnold, Eureka and Washington, have been recognized as "Premier Hallmark Gold Crown Store Owners."
The Soapers are among 200 Hallmark store owners who were recognized for specialty retail excellence. Awards were presented during a special awards ceremony in Naples, Fla.
Each of the more than 2,000 Hallmark Gold Crown stores are evaluated twice a year on customer satisfaction, marketing/merchandising, and retail operations.
Carol's Hallmark Store opened in Town Plaza Shopping Center in 1995, the fifth store for the Soapers. They own two Hallmark operations in Arnold.
John Hendricks of Jackson was winner of a grand prize drawing during grand opening ceremonies held at Capaha Bank, 3168 William, recently, for a trip for two to Las Vegas.
Four winners of $250 savings bonds were Marilyn Duffey and Margie Smith, both of Cape Girardeau; Glenda Bridges of Cape Girardeau and Michael Cook of Chaffee.
Winners of $100 savings bonds were Dorothy Ank, Virgie Preusser and Ron Herr, all of Cape Girardeau, and Ruth Masterson of Jackson.

Receiving Summit Level honors, for sales volume of more than $2 million in 1996, were Marta Green, Karen Lewis and Sharan Light of Classic Real Estate Ltd., Better Homes and Gardens, and Marilyn Duffey, Prudential Bridgeport Realtors.
Dale Ludwig, formerly of Cape Girardeau County, has been named 1996 "Agri-Business Leader of the Year," by the St. Louis Agribusiness Club.
Ludwig, executive director of the Missouri Sobyean Merchandising Council and Missouri Soybean Association, lives in Jefferson City.
Ludwig, who has 15 years experience in agriculture communications and marketing, serves on the University of Missouri's agriculture advisory council, Gov. Mel Carnahan's Energy Futures Coalition, and the Missouri 4-H Foundation. He is a graduate of UM-Columbia.
Mark Royse has been appointed vice president/general manager of Southwestern Bell Wireless operations in Eastern Missouri.
Royse, a Nevada, Mo., native, joined Southwestern Bell in 1981. he has more recently served as vice president/general manager of the company's wireless operation in Oklahoma.
In his new position, Royse will be responsible for markets, sales and service from the Jefferson City area to the Missouri-Arkansas state line. He is a graduate of Wichita State University.
