LETTERS: THREE YEARS OF COLUMN WRITING

To the editor:

I wish to invite your readers to make a special effort to read TBY: The Best Years which will be in Monday's paper. I have countless people tell me they enjoy what I write. Sometimes they are referring to a letter to the editor. Sometimes they are referring to my column, "Written From the Heart," in TBY. The upcoming column marks my third year of writing for TBY, and I think this column may be a collector's item. In fact, I have been thinking about what I might do to make this column a rarity that people would stand in line for. Some of the ideas:

1. Include a serial number at the end of the column for identification purposes.

2. Create a shortage by buying as many papers on TBY day as I can afford.

3. Talk Steve Mosley into sharing his close encounter of a different kind in a limited edition.

I suppose the thing that would work the best to make my column a rarity would be fore me to quit writing it. Believe me, I've tried. Every time I give it serious consideration, someone tells me or calls Speak Out saying how much he enjoys my column. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to those of you who have done so.
