CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP WELL WORTH THE PRICE

Representing around 1,100 business professionals, Cape Girardeau's Chamber of Commerce can boast of one of the largest memberships in the state.

But the chamber is not content with status quo.

Early Tuesday morning, members will hit the streets for recruitment. Sixty-five new members is the goal of the one-day membership blitz.

This organization offers a number of top-notch programs and services for its members. It also provides a compelling voice in our community and a catalyst for change.

New leadership should also bring fresh ideas into the mix of chamber staples. John Mehner replaced long-time executive Bob Hendrix, who retired late last year.

The local membership is the fourth largest in the state, which is quite an accomplishment considering the city ranks 11th or 12th in the state's largest metropolitan areas. It reflects our city's progressive nature, and the fact local businesses just want to keep getting better.

If you receive that knock on your door Tuesday, please give these recruiters careful consideration. If the chamber doesn't come to you, call them. The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce is well worth the price of membership.
