Jackson freshmen post win

BRANSON, Mo. -- The Jackson Freshman American Legion Post 158 baseball team was victorious in its state tournament opener Wednesday afternoon, defeating Waynesville, Mo., 4-2.

Austin Bucher, Jake Edwards and Ryan Mize each went 2 for 3 at the plate for Jackson (26-6-1).

Devon Blankenship went the distance on the mound, allowing two runs -- none earned -- on five hits over seven innings. He walked six and struck out five.

Jackson will play the winner of Branson/Washington, Mo., today at 5:30 p.m.
