LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Bears have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with veteran fullback Daimon Shelton, the team announced Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shelton, who started nine games with the Bears last season, was suspended for the divisional playoff against Philadelphia. It was the first game of a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

49ERS: The team has signed free agent safety Tony Parrish to a five-year, $12 million contract. Parrish was a starter for all four of his seasons with the Bears. He had 67 tackles and three of his eight career interceptions last season.

Parrish's deal, which includes a $3 million signing bonus, ensures the departure of Lance Schulters, a former Pro Bowler who spent his first four NFL seasons with San Francisco. Schulters, also a free agent, had 73 tackles and three interceptions last season.

REDSKINS: Rod Jones, a backup tackle last year with the Rams, signed a three-year contract with the Redskins on Tuesday.

The Redskins plan to start Jones at guard, a position he played earlier in his career with the Bengals.
