Appleman team wins golf tourney

Brad Elfrink, Jeff Appleman, Keith Bruegger and Brent Holmes shot a 57 to win the championship flight of the seventh annual Joe Uhls golf tournament Friday at Bent Creek Golf Course.

Zach Boroviak, Scott Barr, Steve Barr and Todd Harpstripe finished a stroke behind in second. The third-place team of Terry Farrow, Tim Pliemann, Dino Banksen and Joe Davidson also shot 58.

The foursome of Jeff Lack, Steve Taylor, Jay Knudtson and Matt Shetley won A flight with a 62. Wayne Smith, Bob Neff, Steve Green and Dale Meier finished first in B flight with a 66.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Brent Holmes (No. 6), Dave Shulman (No. 13) and Greg Klund (No. 15).

Ruebsam team wins golf tourney

Matt Kruszynski, Gary VanMatre and Luke Ruebsam shot a 55 to win the afternoon flight at the Notre Dame golf tournament Monday at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Ian Soutar, Phil Cantoni, Tim Poneer and Jeff Roosman finished a stroke back in second. Chris Martin, Terry Farrow, Lindsey Enloe and Tyler Enloe were third with a 59.

Jason Coalter, Mark Lanzotti, Bard Womack and Dan Atkinson finished first in A flight with a 62.

Mike Renick, Trey Simmons, Todd Bonacki and Mike Cossey won B flight with a 68.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Jay Knudtson (No. 5), Kruszynski (No. 8), Craig Wilson (No. 11) and Womack (No. 13). John Litzenfelner and Anita Essner won the longest drives.

In the morning competition, Glenn Campbell, Drew Thornton, David Lynch and Darrel Cook won championship flight in a tiebreaker.

Richie Phillips, Luke McMahan, Todd Barnett and Price Coakley also shot a 55 and placed second. Gary Brandenburg, Ben Godwin, Quentin Duff and Randy Hart finished third.

Chris Canfield, Wayne Nam and Joe Naum won A flight with a 64.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Mark Mahnke (No. 5), Dan Buerck (No. 11) and Tim Buerck (No. 13). Mark Wittenborn and Bonnie Mahnke had the longest drives.

Horseshoe hall of fame inducts pair

Carolyn Schreckenberg and Melody Williams recently were inducted into the SEMO Horseshoe Association's hall of fame.

Lachelle Cook earned the most points trophy with 152 points during the recently completed season. It was the sixth consecutive year she's captured the award. Randy Senciboy was second with 76 points, while Randy Grady was third with 56.

Terrie Rose and Jason Rains won the nine-team tournament at the Oran Jaycees. Senciboy and Bob Burnett were second, while Mike DaVault and Mike Kluesner were third.

Jerome Backfisch and Cook won the 18-team tournament of champions at the Scott City Park.

Kluesner and Grady took second, while Burnett and Rose finished third.
