  • Illinois State junior Dominitrix Johnson, a Bell City graduate and Three Rivers transfer, is leading the Redbirds in scoring through four games. Johnson is averaging 16.5 points a game and leads the team in field goals made (23) and attempted (55).

Johnson, who helped lead the Cubs to a pair of Class 1 titles, scored a career-high 32 points in a loss to Florida State at the Colonial Classic. The 32 points also was a tournament-best and helped Johnson earn all-tournament honors. Overall, Johnson leads the team in minutes played per game (33.5) and is shooting 41.5 percent from 3-point range (17-41).

  • Saxony Lutheran graduate Lauren Lueders has averaged 10.8 minutes of playing time through four games for the No. 14 Vanderbilt women's basketball team. Lueders, a freshman, signed with Vanderbilt after playing four years for Saxony Lutheran's boys team. Through four games Lueders is averaging 3.5 points a game on 5-of-10 shooting. Lueders is 3-for-6 from 3-point range and has nine assists.
  • Bell City graduate C.J. Hadley is making the most of limited minutes for Sam Houston State. Hadley, who had to sit out last year with an injury after transferring from Three Rivers, is averaging 6.7 points a game while averaging just 13.7 minutes of playing time. Hadley is shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and is averaging 2.3 rebounds.

Football

  • Central graduate Marcus Klund earned first-team all-conference honors in the Heart of American Conference this past season. Klund recently finished his senior season for Lindenwood University, an NAIA school. Last year Klund was an NAIA All-American defensive back.
