Most of us have been inspired by someone, and hearing from successful people can help us grow -- personally and professionally.

A good opportunity for women -- college students and those in the community -- to be inspired is coming up March 13 with "The Power of Women" community women's luncheon. This is a chance to connect students with opportunities and successful women in the community.

The luncheon will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Show Me Center. Dr. Kala Stroup, who served as president of Southeast Missouri State University for five-plus years in the '90s, will present the keynote address. Sherri Cliffe, a former Southeast student who operates a sports marketing and events company in St. Louis, also will speak to the group. Other speakers include Southeast President Dr. Kenneth Dobbins, among others from the university.

The deadline for reservations is Wednesday. Reservations and ticket purchases may be made at www.semo.edu/powerofwomen. Individual tickets are $25 and tables of six are $150. Table purchases include sponsorships for two Southeast students.
