The Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce has a new executive director.

Jackie Wengert, who served as the organization's director from 1999 to 2004, was named to the position recently after the resignation of Emily Steele.

"We are really excited to have Jackie coming on board in this critical role and extremely confident in her ability to hit the ground running," Deanna Kline, chamber president, said in a news release. "The Board has the utmost confidence in Jackie and her ability to help take this great organization to the next level!"

The Perryville chamber has a membership of more than 450 organizations, according to its website.

Chambers have an important role to play in communities. Whether it's fostering networking opportunities or recruiting new industry, it's important to have this leadership in place.
