Movie fans are excited about the choice of Cape Girardeau as a location for the movie version of "Killshot," an Elmore Leonard novel. Most of the movie will be shot in Canada, but three days of filming are scheduled for Cape Girardeau in December or January. The film company's short stay is expected to pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy.

Stars Diane Lane ("Unfaithful") and Thomas Jane ("61*") will be in Cape Girardeau with the approximately 100-member film crew and director John Madden ("Shakespeare in Love").

There's no word yet on how accessible the shoot will be to people who want to watch the movie being made or whether extras will be hired. Film message boards are full of comments from people in Missouri who want to participate in the film in some way.

"Killshot" is about an innocent couple (Lane and Jane) who happen upon a real estate scheme run by a mafia hit man (Mickey O'Rourke) and his young sociopathic accomplice (Justin Timberlake). Cape Girardeau is where the couple go to hide out. They will be hiding in the klieg lights this winter.
