Another recent generous gift in the community deserves high praise. Wanda Drury recently donated $300,000 to the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church so it could buy the old Notre Dame High School building and property.

The purchase is important for several reasons. It will guarantee the building remains in good repair and will beused, and the building and grounds will allow the parish to expand. Plans are being developed to fully utilize the 14-acre site, which includes the school building, a 10-bedroom convent and baseball and soccer fields.

The parish launched a fund-raising effort last summer, but Wanda Drury stepped up with the entire amount only a week into the campaign. Now the parish can use other funds to upgrade the building instead of buying a new one.

This is a win-win situation for everyone involved, thanks to a generous benefactor.
