Tax issues deserve "no" votes in Cape Girardeau, Jackson. A rebuttal!
The Southeast Missourian:
1. Won't be affected by the tax as it just passes the tax to its subscribers in higher prices, which is true for all businesses. More price inflation, anyone?
2. Believes taking money from citizens and giving it to government is the way to keep profits in the pockets of car dealerships. Sad!
3. Believes that tax-and-spend is the solution when local taxes in Missouri are 16 percent higher than in Tennessee. And Missouri ranks 49th in GDP growth!
4. Thinks it is a good idea to improve fields at Shawnee Park and pour more tax money into bankrupt city enterprises!
5. Fails to note that the city does not collect justifiable fees totaling $1,500,000!
The Southeast Missourian's conclusions are all wrong, but they had to cater to their advertisers! Bottom line, this newspaper, the chambers of commerce and the cities all have vested interest and/or are biased!
A "yes" vote means taxes on your internet purchases, taxes on all your out-of-state purchases; you pay the tax passed through to you in inflated prices!
Just vote "no" to taxation!
