A visitor to Cape Girardeau from England this week was asked what he thought about the future of the British monarchy. He minced no words. He said he believes the monarchy is quite secure, and that the British people could do without some of the shenanigans of a republic, an obvious reference to politics and personal conduct in our nation's capital.Last week, Australians were given an opportunity to become the world's 147th republic but rejected a referendum that would have dropped the British monarch as their head of state.There will, it turns out, always be an England. And a queen or king.
