Tax credits can be one of the best incentives for charitable giving. Unlike tax deductions, which provide partial tax relief as an itemized deduction, tax credits directly offset tax bills. In this case, the Safe House can issue tax credits for half the total amount of a donation. The total amount of tax credits available in this case is $48,780, which would be applied toward $97,560 in donations.

The tax credits and the Safe House's programs are a potent combination. Donors now have an opportunity to lower the tax bills by half of any donation to the organization, and the Safe House will continue to provide a much needed service for women in a five-county area.
