To the editor:
On Tuesday evening, April 30, members of the Southeast community and the university came together to share their many talents and mutual love of music while transporting their audience across the Atlantic Ocean to the British Isles through their performance combining the Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra with the Choral Union and University Choir.
The Southeast Missouri Symphony Orchestra lifted our spirits, with their opening pieces by Keith Amos and Ralph Vaughan Williams, reminding us of the beauty of a spring day. There are no adequate words to describe the beauty and talent of our community and the university as they blended their voices in "Rutter's Requiem." We were reassured of the beauty of God's everlasting love through their words, their blending of voices with the music and their joy in sharing their talents.
As we left Academic Hall moved by this experience, we could not help but wonder how deserving these dedicated community and university members are of a quality performance hall that showcases their talents more fully, where parking is readily available, and where we come together as a unified community to be transported across the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean for an evening of uplifting music.
We invite the members of the Southeast community to join us in congratulating their talents and in supporting the River Campus.ROBERT AND ADELAIDE PARSONS
