Schoolteachers should be trained in first aid. There was a school field trip Friday where a sixth-grader passed out and stopped breathing. Instead of taking the student to the hospital or calling an ambulance, teachers took the girl all the way back to school. All of the children on the bus huddled around the girl when somebody came to help her at the school. Shouldn't this situation have been handled better? The other children should have stayed seated, and the student should have been taken to the emergency room, since she couldn't breathe. If teachers can't handle a situation like this on the bus, what is going to happen if something happens at school and the nurse isn't around?
