AMY RANDOL reported what she saw. I admire her courage. Ed Thompson and Dr. Clark are both fine, respectable people, but they should set good examples for our youth. They are contributing good things for our school, but the district and taxpayers should not have to tolerate this abuse.
ALL YOU Democrats out there. What do you thing about Hillary Rodham Clinton going over to Denmark and promising these poor countries $100 million from the United States taxpayers to help the women learn to read in these poor countries. Who's running this country, Hillary or Bill? And this is a good example of how they are trying to find tax cuts and trying to find ways to balance the budget, and what do they want to do? They want to cut Medicare and Medicaid. Still they can go overseas and promise these countries $100 million. Something is terribly wrong with the system.
I CAN'T understand why all the people in Southeast Missouri do not want gambling. Is it a problem with their self-control? I would hope not. But gambling is a great form of entertainment, and you might go out there and make some money. These people who have no self-control should not go to the casino. They should probably join a support group. But most people do not need those kinds of things. They can gamble and have fun.
I DEFINITELY stand united with Bill Clinton not to watch the scab replacement ballplayers on opening day. I hear Bill Emerson will be at Busch Stadium and singing the National Anthem since he believes in replacement scab workers to cross union labor picket lines.
I WAS in a funeral procession from McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson traveling to Memorial Park in Cape on Highway 61. From the time we left the funeral home, the procession was passed by numerous individual vehicles and local commercial vehicles. Not only did they pass the cars in the procession, they were rude enough to pull into the procession to make right hand turns. I also want to acknowledge that some citizens were respectful enough to stop. Are the citizens in this area so impatient they have lost all respect for the deceased and the grieving families? Why can't they have the common courtesy of not passing the procession to show their respect? Do they realize that they could be put into the same situation I was in?
I SEE that President Clinton went and ate lunch at an elementary school in order to protest the proposed cuts in the school lunch program. I would just like to know if President Clinton paid for his lunch himself or if the government paid for his lunch. If the government paid for his lunch, doesn't that just illustrate that people making $200,000 a year like President Clinton don't deserve a free lunch and that maybe other people who don't deserve a free lunch are also getting the free lunch program?
AS PARENTS we not only have to monitor TV and movies, now high school plays can be added to that list. You heard right, high school plays. I was amazed and disgusted with the content of the play put on by the Jackson High School Drama Club. The kids did a very good job and they are not to blame. The blame lies with the drama teacher. Where's her example and where are her values. Our kids are subjected to a constant barrage of sex and vulgar language everywhere they go, but school drama should be an exception. To the administrators of Jackson High School I say that you need to do some monitoring of your staff.
I WISH to comment on the "babbling Carol" comments. I agree with the lady in Friday's paper. This black thing has got to go. Why can't we all just act like normal, law-abiding citizens and forget who's which color? That's no longer an issue. Let it die, and let's get along.
MOST OF the flooding through out the country is not due to heavy rains. There is no place for the water to go. Highways, parking lots, mall, housing and so on keep water high from runoffs.
GUESS WHAT, Ms. High and Mighty, that clicking sound that you heard Friday morning at 9:06 were the people in Cape Girardeau hitting the off button on their radios.
TIME FOR "Bizarro" to go. That is the worst cartoon. I have given it every chance, and it is not funny. I would rather see reruns of "Far Side."
ALL THE complaints about the fly-through weather are just another good example of Cape Girardeau residents not being able to adapt to change.
