THIS IS for the Limbaugh fans here in Cape. If there was treason committed in spirit, it was done in Rush Limbaugh's June 24 monologue where he was gleeful that the Japanese trade minister had got Clinton good when he mentioned that Japan was withdrawing some of what Limbaugh called financing of our economy. Limbaugh joyfully reported the immediate stock market decline. They have not succeeded due to more rational leaders in Japan, and I think it is highly improper to praise their attempts as obviously Limbaugh did.
I AM a Southern Baptist, and they certainly do not speak for me about boycotting Disney. Who are they to judge? I know other Baptists who object to this decision. If this is the way they feel, and feel so narrow-minded about this, I think they should pray for themselves.
I AM proud to be a Southern Baptist and I will definitely support the Disney boycott. No more Channel 3 for me and my family. We'll just have to get by with Channel 6 and Channel 12.
JUST A little letter of inspiration. Those of can do. Those who can't criticize.
I WAS severely disappointed when I read in the newspaper about the sentence that was given to the Jackson man accused of drunk driving. In the same article, our prosecuting attorney, Morley Swingle, says that's a standard punishment given for a first offense. And they think this man's not going to be out driving on the road again? I think there was an error in judgment, and this just looks like an accident waiting to happen.
I'M READING with interest the articles in your Speak Out column about the Clippard School situation, and I agree that the people that are buying homes in this school district are paying higher prices for them, higher taxes, higher homeowners insurance, and I feel like the children should probably stay in this school district if possible. My grandson will be affected this fall. It's no big deal with our family. I like the suggestion that one of your callers had to hire another teacher at Clippard for kindergarten this fall. However I understand the budget is a concern here and am wondering if it might not be possible to bring the May Greene kindergarten teacher to the Clippard School and then bus the May Greene children to other schools including Clippard if there is room. It seems to me that it doesn't have to be a foregone conclusion that only the Clippard children must be bussed. Why can't be bus another school's children if this is what going to best suit the needs of our community?
I'M CALLING regarding the editorial "Apology for slavery makes no sense whatsoever." I totally agree. An apology for what white Americans did to black Americans certainly is inappropriate. There needs to be financial restitution not only to black Americans, but to the Indians. The white man has just truly taken over America and ruined it for everyone else other than someone who's not Anglo-white-Protestant.
WHY DON'T the people in south Cape keep their property up? If they don't want the property, get rid of it. The few people on South Spanish work so hard on their yards. You drive in the alley from William to Good Hope, only two or three people mow their yards in the back. Trash everywhere. No one seems to care. All they're doing is collecting rent and letting their property go. The car lot on Spanish and Lemons is a very bad eyesore. Why does the city allow this?
I'M CALLING in relation to the Clippard kindergarten lottery issue. I wonder if the school board or anyone has considered the possibility of a combined kindergarten-first grade class to solve this problem. This has worked successfully in Illinois schools, I know. That would be the combination of a kindergarten and first grade to try and maybe take some of the overflow students and combine them into a kindergarten-first grade class. That's worked very well in a lot of Southern Illinois classes.
