I DON'T want to hear any more about how the big-city doctors don't care. Because of my company insurance, I was supposed to go to St. Louis for my health care. Instead, I chose to pay the penalty and see a local doctor for what I was afraid was an ulcer. I called his office several times after tests were done, trying to find out the results. After four weeks of trying to obtain my results over the phone and being given excuse after excuse, frustrated doesn't begin to describe how I felt. While talking to a friend, he told me that he too had a similar situation with the same doctor. I finally received a letter from this doctor telling me of the results. By the time his letter arrived, I had already made an appointment with and seen a doctor in St. Louis. I had also been given an accurate diagnosis and been placed on medication that has made my life so much better.
I AM thoroughly disgusted with our president. He opts to spend all his time touring the world at United States taxpayer's expense. We have lots of problems in this country that need to be addressed. Instead of being here doing what he is being paid to do, President Clinton and his wife are everywhere but where they are being paid to be. I do hope the people who voted him in have had their fill of this.
THE LETTER in the paper about the Drurys was a long, overkill explanation. They have completed many projects, but why do questions crop up on so many different ones?
THIS IS a message to the Cape City Council. When are you going to wake up and realize what a great benefit the Drury company is to our town? Why do you continually cut off your nose to spite your face?
I HEARD Dr. Jones, the superintendent of schools from Jackson, on the radio. He forgot to mention one small thing. A petition was presented to him with 336 signatures of Jackson voters. He certainly seems to be trying to misrepresent the busing issue as a small group of people from one day care.
I CAN'T believe the comment in Speak Out column saying list the color of your car when you're selling it. He was looking for a used truck. That's ridiculous. Nobody lists the color of the car. They just list the year. Then you look at it, if you're interested in it, you buy it.
I AM more upset than I have been in a long about something I read in your paper on the front page. The administrators of the hospitals here in town won't tell us where they're planning to save all these millions of dollars. Then you turn the page and one of them is talking about laying off a whole bunch of people. I understand that if they merge they're going to have to eliminate some positions. But I have a question. I work at one of these hospitals. I don't know what's going on at the other one, but I can tell you at the one where I work, we've been hiring people like crazy ever since January. If they knew they were going to have to lay off people, why didn't they just not hire some? I'm really having a difficult time trying to remember why it's so bad if a big corporation like Barnes-Jewish-Christian comes down and takes over. If they're going to be unfeeling and uncaring about the local people, it seems to me like we've already got that.
I WANT to comment about the person who said the Republicans never give Clinton any credit. I want to hear the Democrats give him credit for something he's done. Name one thing that Clinton has done, and don't dare say the balanced budget because he vetoed five balanced budgets. Newt Gingrich and the Republicans made him accept this last balanced budget. They're the ones who proposed it. Remember the Contract With America? I'll tell you three things that Clinton has done. The Somalia betrayal where he put men over there in Somalia and didn't give them weapons to fight with and got the Marines wiped out. The Waco children's massacre where he murdered little kids by putting gas on them. And all these sex scandals. Plus going over to Africa and apologizing for slavery when the Africans who are over there now are the ones who sold their own people into slavery, and then offering to give our money to these dictators in Africa when our whole Social Security and Medicare are almost broke. I've named more than three things. Would some Democrat get in the paper and tell us three things that Clinton has done -- and be honest about it, not what the Republicans have made him do but what he's done on his own?
