In the book of Jeremiah, he complains that the more he passed on the word, the more the people would hate him. That is still true today. In today's society the more you promote moral values, the more trouble you get into. (Remember Matthew 5: 11-12)
Sunday's first reading at mass was from Ezekiel. He tells that if you see someone sinning you are supposed to tell them it is wrong. If you do not then they will die for their sin but "their blood will be on your hands." I can hear you say, "Oh I did not want to hear that!" The Gospel reading was the same. If you see your brother sinning you are supposed to tell him. If he ignores you, take two or three witnesses. If he still ignores them, take him to the church. If he ignores even the church, then treat him as gentile or tax collector.
This is not word for word but, the message is correct. The message is very clear. We are not supposed to say "you living in sin is OK." Sin kills the soul. Yes, even in these days it still kills. Sin is never OK.
We are supposed to love our loved ones so much that we will tell them the truth. If we do not we are not following the Bible.
If your loved one listens to you, you helped to save their soul if they do as the Bible says and "endure until the end."
