Changing major

After learning about the Affordable Care Act in college, I've decided to change my major. I'm no longer going to become a physician and will change my major from pre-med to something more practical. The course scared me out of my goals, and my professor supports the law.

Diplomacy

It's humorous to watch all of the liberal talking heads on TV explaining how deftly President Obama engineered the chemical weapons deal in Syria. The truth is, as everyone knows, he waffled and wavered until his bumbling Secretary of State made a verbal gaffe that the Russians jumped on immediately. Obama and Kerry are practicing "diplomacy by accident," which is the best they are capable of.

Obama and business

The evidence is clearly in: After five years of the Obama presidency, the economy is still limping along, totally in the doldrums. Why? Because we have a president who does not like business (despite his rhetoric), and he runs an administration that does everything it can to stifle any kind of business recovery. Whatever spark the economy produces is because of the energy and zeal of the American entrepreneur, who strives to succeed and prosper in the face of all the government obstacles. Obama is without a doubt the most anti-business president we ever have had, and the economy shows it.

Legally Blonde

So totally psyched about "Legally Blonde" coming to the River Campus! I love that show. I saw it in New York City and in St. Louis. Can't wait to see what Dr. Stilson will do with it. His shows always are so good. Everybody's buzzing about it, and they're saying it's even better than "Grease," which was great. I hope everybody gets a chance to see it.

Health-care access

Hopefully the outstanding story in the Southeast Missourian will motivate them to do something about it, but with their survival-of-the- fittest mentality, I doubt it. Though several Southeast Missouri counties rank at or below developing nations in the quality of or access to health care, the Missouri General Assembly, in a shameful gesture of collective indifference, voted against Medicaid expansion for political purposes, thus condemning many residents of these counties to ongoing and often unnecessary suffering.

Aiding terrorists?

Why is nobody calling for impeachment hearings and treason hearings of John McCain, Lindsay Graham, John Boehner, and Barack Obama for their efforts providing aid to terrorists such as Hamas, al-Qaida, Hezbollah, and the rest in the Syrian civil war? Where does the Missourian stand?

Patriots wanted

I don't recognize my country anymore. I'm quickly losing pride, respect and even a sense of civic duty. I cannot support a nation that allows the president to decide when he follows the law, treasonous support of terrorists, targets political enemies with the IRS, spies on Americans, and, well, the list keeps going. Where are the patriots?
