Veteran thanks

Thursday afternoon at a gas station in Jackson I had started to fill my auto with gas when a young lady noticed my veteran cap and said she would like to pay for my gas in thanks for my service to our country. This 85-year-old veteran would like to thank this young lady again for her thoughtfulness. September 11

September 11, a day in our nations history and we should "never forget." But, have we? The Southeast Missourian didn't have anything on page 1 on this 15th anniversary of the worst day in American history, but had to go to page 8. Page 8, really? It should have been front page news. We should have all flown our flags as our national emblem, remember everyone we lost on that day and continue to come together as the country we love.

Miss America

Though she didn't win, I'm so proud of Missouri for being the first state in the nation to have an openly gay person for the title of Miss America.
