IF you want to see a Broadway-caliber production with local talent, don't miss "Sing, America, Sing," Mike Dumey's rising stars. They do one fantastic job. It's going to be shown several more times. Don't miss it. It's worth every penny.

It's inflation

OFFICIALS keep talking about inflation being close to zero. I have a friend who says this is not true. It's like at the grocery store where the price of an item may be the same but the quantity has been reduced. Instead of 16 ounces, a can has maybe 13 1/2 or 14 ounces. That makes the price per ounce go up on that product. This is inflation no matter how the officials look at it.

Sports play

THIS is typical for the Southeast Missourian. Monday's sports section has a story saying Tiger Woods lost a tournament, and there's a huge picture and article about him. Down in the corner there's a little wallet-sized picture of Hunter Mayhan who won the tournament.

Robo-invasion

I don't mind getting robo-calls. What I mind is that when you hang up the calls don't disconnect. I know they have the right to free speech, but when I hang up that's my right not to listen. If someone came to your door and pushed his way in and was talking about their political candidate, you would have the right to push him back out the door. They wouldn't have the right to stand there. When the robo-calls won't disconnect, that's what they're doing. They're invading your house.

Good article

I would like to compliment Jane Ryan of Campbell, Mo., on her excellent article Aug. 8. I can agree with and relate to every word. I hope there are enough of us good Americans left out here to change some of the greed-based special-interest policies of the past years. Thanks to the Southeast Missourian for publishing Campbell's article.

What's up?

I'D like to know why we haven't heard anything to do with the Commander Premier Aircraft Co. at the airport. The last we heard is the company was bought, but people at the airport say the company's never been sold, and I'm wondering why there hasn't been a story. Why does the city allow this company to stay at the airport rent-free with no productivity? Our taxes are going up and costs are going up, but this company continues to live off the fat of the land and goes virtually unchecked.
