Race language

I read a couple of your articles from July 11 newspaper about the police shootings and a few other similar articles. I couldn't help but notice how this sentence was repeated several times: Unarmed black men killed, by white cops. Well hold on a second. I'm pretty sure there has been an unarmed black man shot by a black cop or an unarmed white man shot by a black cop. My point is when it comes to race, it's newspapers and media outlets in general wording words to make it sound like white cops are just out running around killing black people. Give me a break.

Ross column

Adrienne Ross' column pointing out that we can be both pro-police and pro-peaceful protesters was spot on. However, her apparent invocation of prayer as helping solve our problems is not helpful and counterproductive. Prayer may make people feel better but is in ways fatalistic, leaving a false impression that there's nothing mankind can do to make things better and that all is in the hands of a deity.

Hit and run

This is addressed to the lady in the silver car who hit the back of my car on Mount Auburn Road on Monday afternoon. You were trying to get into the lane behind me but pulled over too soon. When I felt this, I immediately signaled and pulled into the drive just before the carwash. You just continued on. I made a police report with what description I could remember. I am hoping, perhaps foolishly, that when you notice red paint on your right front bumper, you will do the right thing and contact the Cape police department.

Trash at school

To the customers of Phillips 66 on Independence and Caruthers: Please make sure your trash gets in the cans provided by this business. The junior high practice field is the catch all for your lids, cups, and wrappers. This looks very unsightly and is disrespectful to our school.

Privacy

After reading about the Giboneys' and the Houcks' as well as the current resident's seemingly zealous concern for the absolute privacy of their property, I seriously doubt that any time in the near or maybe even distant future will the property be designated as a Pokemon GO hot spot.

Perplexed

As a Republican voter, I am a bit perplexed. Many Republican candidates seeking the various state offices appear to think they are running against Barack Obama. Last I heard, he isn't running for anything. It would be immensely helpful to me if candidates would just tell me where they stand on issues affecting me, and how their policies would differ from their opponents. Obama won't be in office this time next year, and neither will you if you don't give me a good reason to vote for you.
