As a business in Cape with very little parking, it would be nice if the area businesses that need additional parking, whether temporary or not, would come introduce themselves and apologize. Kingshighway is a very crowded spot between Broadway and Bessie St. Please be courteous of your fellow neighbors who are also BUSINESSES. Our customers are just as important as yours.
Thanks to whomever paid for our meal at Cracker Barrel Saturday night April 21. We were shocked and speechless.
I was crushed to see that the name of the team had already been narrowed to 3! I had been waiting to submit my choice! Since I like my names better than the offered ones, maybe we can have a grassroots movement of two other options! My favorite submission was going to be Cape River Bats, with a river and a baseball bat crossed over it or instead of steamboats, Cape Paddlewheelers sounds better!
Thank you, Adrienne Ross, for your great article "Raising victims or victors." There is no doubt that our country has many problems, including racism on both sides. There is also no doubt that most of these problems start at home, whether you're black, white or any other color.
Autism cuts
Slashing Missouri's state budget for autism services is a sinful abomination.
Jensen column
After reading Mike Jensen's recent installment, I am more convinced than ever that the Republicans will not lose 20 seats in this year's congressional elections. Nope. The party will lose at least 40.
Melvin Gateley
Melvin Gateley was a gem of a person. I particularly admired him when he frequently took anti-establishment positions while on the city council.
Golf tournament
I would have thought that the sports department would have covered, at least a little bit, the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship this week at Dalhousie. This is a pretty big deal to have this championship event in Cape. I volunteered and had a wonderful time. The coaches were nice and the players were so polite. Nice of the folks at Dalhousie to bring this to our town.
