I read George Will's column about denim. What does he think people wear out here in the rural area, the real America, when they scoop chicken manure or cow manure? I've checked my closet, and all I can come up with is denim.
SO which would you rather have, a president who goes abroad and gets shoes thrown at him because he's so hated, or a president who goes abroad and is offered a book and a handshake?
OUR leaders and our nation are appalled at the techniques used on alleged terrorists at Gitmo. These techniques did not end in death and have no lasting effects. Each day, thousands of American citizens are tortured here in our own country by having their bodies torn apart by abortion procedures. These actions do end in death. Baby infants in the womb need to be declared as alleged terrorists so their lives and rights will be protected. The president says he wants to use American money wisely. I suggest he stop using our money to support the murder of our fellow American citizens through abortion and destroying the future of our nation.
PRESIDENT Obama gave the word to the Navy Seals to do what you have to do regarding the pirates. Isn't that exactly what the Bush administration had to do? President Bush said do what you have to do. There's no difference. I guess murder is not considered torture.
I live off Lexington Avenue in Northfield subdivision. Once again the city has been doing sewer work and water work on Lexington and has had to tear up most of the road, disrupting traffic. The thing that concerns me is this work is done almost yearly. People who live in that block on Lexington have sewer problems. Instead of doing the job right, the city puts a Band-Aid on the problem every few months. I don't know what the city engineer's office is thinking, but this is a colossal waste of money and resources. Why don't we fix it right once and for all?
I resent President Obama apologizing for America, a country that has helped other nations more than any other, that has rebuilt nations, that has fought tyranny all over the world and that has given more food, health care and liberty than any other country. And many of our young men have died for others' freedom. The president is supposed to lead our nation and have pride in it, not run it down. Mr. President, be thankful that there is an America and that you are the president of the greatest nation ever.
I usually agree with George Will's opinion, but his article on denim was one that I disagree with. I'm an almost 89-year-old woman, and I love my blue jeans. They are comfortable and practical, and I do not wear them because the young people do. Most of my friends do not think denim is only for the young.
THE recession has hit Cape Girardeau. The burritos at one restaurant are getting smaller and smaller. What happened to the big burritos?
WHERE were these tax protesters when the Bush administration and a Republican-dominated congress were squandering the budget surplus they inherited?
