Well, self-described middle class Speak Out caller, if you're going to be that way about it, you leave me no choice other than to counter it by saying that I am also a middle class person and, in direct opposition to what you said, I agree with everything said and done by President Obama.
Don't look for David Limbaugh to write diatribes defending the views of Mitt Romney since it is likely that by the time Limbaugh's column would be published, Romney's views would have changed.
Recently visited the Pinecrest Azalea Farm in Oak Ridge, and I want to thank them for allowing us to visit this beautiful area. It has to take a lot of work to keep up the maintenance on the farm and we appreciated the beauty of it all. Thank you very much!
Finally the U.S. Senate receives some well-deserved recognition. It appears that they have set a record for inactivity by passing the least legislation of any Senate in prior history during the same span of time. Isn't it odd when we think about it that there is always something going on in the House, which the Republicans control, but when was the last time that any legislation passed the Senate? Who can remember? And they call the Republicans the party of no? It would seem that the Senate Democrats firmly embrace the concept of no activity, no work, no legislation, and no concern for their responsibility to the people who elected them.
It is frightening to imagine how much government waste and misconduct would be swept under the rug if the Republicans hadn't won control of the House in 2010 and if Darrell Issa wasn't chairman of the House Oversight Committee. The scandals coming out now with the Secret Service and the GSA are undoubtedly just the tip of the iceberg. Of course the reason that these conditions exist is the complete lack of leadership in the White House and President Obama's lack of respect for the American people in general. Every move he makes is for political purposes. He has no interest whatsoever in actually solving America's problems. He simply uses the problems to divide people and promote his re-election. I hope all those people who voted him in are pleased with themselves.
I would dare say that other than family and close friends, the most influential person in the lives of baby boomers and other retirees was the recently-deceased Dick Clark.
All the Republicans are now coming out of their closets and saying that they are backing Mitt Romney for president. They make it sound like they are really doing something. No one else could win the Republican nomination. So what they are doing is a big joke as they really don't want to back him, but they have no other choice. The whole Republican Party is one big joke. They are just going to do anything to protect their big political contributions from the millionaires that own the oil stock.
You would think from reading all of the anti-Obama vitriol spewing from Speak Out and other Southeast Missourian forums that Mitt Romney would already have a huge, insurmountable lead over President Obama. However, that is not the case. It just goes to show that when it comes to presenting a balanced picture of politics in America, neither the online or print version of the Southeast Missourian pass muster.
