The poor taxpayers of Missouri get railroaded again by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Can someone please tell me why we should have to pay for a new railroad crossing in Jackson just so an old 1960s, delapidated Diesel train can go a mile down the tracks and then back up? What a joke. I contacted MoDOT and was told it was an historic railway. What a hoot! Well, the precedent has been set now. They can repair every crossing and bridge from Jackson all the way out to Gads Hill.
I am glad I went to Southeast Missouri State University, where most professors that I had did not try to force their political views on their students. Most of them, if they did have strong political views, stuck to the subject they where there to teach.
I really like Mark Hopkins' articles. This Sunday's "Shooting yourself in the foot" is an especially good one.
Just for the record: Are the area state representatives and senator who received gifts from lobbyists as exposed by the Missouri Ethics Commission and published in the Southeast Missourian pledged to vote yes on proposals to ban said gifts? In the well-written Southeast Missourian article on the subject, they all seemed to leave themselves some wiggle room.
Cape Girardeau's "best math tutor" may indeed be retired Southeast Missouri State University professor Victor Gummersheimet, but I know one who is at least his equal. His name is Geoff Seyer, and he is an amazing-- even world class -- tutor.
