Untimely story

HAILEY Dacus was a sweet girl. She was a member of my family. The fact that this story was put in the newspaper before the family knew about the charges is ridiculous. Don't you think the family is in enough pain? No one ever considers that. All those who are criticizing Victoria Dacus need to grow up. You have no right to discuss her life, and you have no right to point the finger. I agree that charges should be filed, but wait until the family knows about these charges.

Central's needs

CENTRAL High School doesn't even have enough classrooms. Some teachers have to carry all their materials with them from one room to the next sharing other teachers' rooms because there aren't enough. There are leaks after a big rain. The parking lot is jammed. There needs to be an auditorium with a stage. Apparently, all some people can think about is sports.

Who's right?

I keep hearing Democratic spokespeople, when asked about earmarks in the $410 billion omnibus bill, state 40 percent belong to Republicans and this bill is left over from the previous administration. Then my president states "there are not any earmarks in this bill." Who is being truthful?

Socialist president

PRESIDENT Obama telling reporters that he is not a socialist is laughable. My bank account is owned by the government. My mortgage is owned by the government. He wants my health care to be owned by the government. And my car that I will buy will be made by the government through bailout funds. Isn't socialism defined as government owning the means of finance and production, not to mention the government owning the public education system? People who love freedom in America better wake up. It is high time we stopped the socialist onslaught that President Obama is forcing down our throats.

Caution: Explosives

COLUMNIST Charles Krauthammmer recently claimed the financial crisis could be attributed in part to "the proliferation of overeducated, Gucci wearing, smart-ass MBAs inventing ever more sophisticated and opaques mathematical models and debt instruments [that] helped get us in this credit catastrophe in the first place." Krauthammer's claims seem to be somewhat at odds with President Obama's, "Come, let us reason together," call those who want to address our nation's problems in a rational and reasonable way. I fear Krauthammer is on the verge of literally exploding.

Great president

WHY should the middle class and poor regret having voted for President Obama? He is redistributing the wealth away from the rich and in the direction of the middle class and poor, as he promised. And his popularity is at an all-time high. We are witnessing the unfolding of one of our nation's greatest presidents.
