Nasty content

ENOUGH OF this Adam-and-Eve stuff. How can we in Cape and the surrounding area ever become more moral and ethical if Charter Communications keeps tempting us by adding more and more cable channels with nasty content?

Watching Big Business

TO THE person who said it is the Republican Party that cares only about Big Business. Where have you been the past eight years? Bill Clinton was one of the coziest friends to Big Business this country has ever seen. In exchange for big campaign gifts, he tried to put burdensome regulations on small businesses so Big Business would have less competition. Look at the type of people he pardoned. In most cases they were Big Business officers. The fact is that it's the Republicans who watch out for the hard-working, law-abiding small guy in this country.

Mount Auburn dangers

I HAVE a concern about the conversion of Mount Auburn Road to a four-lane street. It has become extremely dangerous. It has only been four or five days since it has been transitioned to a four-lane street, but it's turned into a four-lane highway. By this I mean that everybody's driving incredibly fast, and no one is paying attention to a 35-mph speed limit. Whereas before someone had to stop or slow down when someone was trying to turn in front of you, now people are going around on either side, not paying attention to oncoming traffic. I think the situation has become very dangerous. I think whoever's in charge of making this decision need to go out there and see what this has done.

Not our fault

I'D LIKE to make a comment about the census. I worked for the Census Bureau this year in management. The Census Bureau can only respond to people who respond to the questionnaires. We put questionnaires out, and people didn't return them. We went out house to house knocking on doors. If they didn't answer the door or our questions, we couldn't do anything. The Census Bureau is getting a bad rap. We did what we could, and it all depends on people being willing to cooperate. So don't blame it all on the Census Bureau. Sure, we make mistakes We're human. But the people who did not respond are also to blame.

Matter of respect

I CAN'T believe the folks who say Michael Pryor has the right not to stand for the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Where did Pryor and others like him get this right? Thanks to those who died to protect our country and our freedoms, a small amount of respect wouldn't hurt anyone. This should be done out of decency and respect for yourself, your neighbors or your country.

McCain is a winner

IN HIS recent column, David Limbaugh accuses U.S. Sen. John McCain of undermining George Bush's agenda. I find that kind of funny, because what Limbaugh doesn't realize is that McCain is the one Republican who probably could have legitimately won the election and had the support of the American people as a whole.
