I'M A victim of domestic violence, and I'm very angered by the article on Greg McGill in Sunday's paper. McGill was an abuser, and your article treats him and his family as victims. The article should have been about Kendra. Shame on you.
I'M CALLING in reference to the Speak Out item where the caller asked what kind of people would have a dog and keep it tied up in the yard and never play with it. Well, from my experience in life, I have found that the people who do this are not very nice folks. They don't make good neighbors. There's an old saying: The way people treat animals is the way they would treat people if they could get by with it. I'd hate to live next door to someone who would treat a poor animal like that.
NO WONDER a lot of us good citizens are disenchanted with both parties. They reason alike. Bill Clinton smoked but didn't inhale. Linda Chavez had an alien living in her house and paid her, but it wasn't employment. It's always the reasoning that whatever I do is OK. It's the other guy who does things wrong. But both sides use the same reasoning.
I'M READING Speak Out where a caller questions how the police department can come up with money to conduct a survey. I don't know where that person has been for the past number of years, but they should know that the city of Cape Girardeau can come up with money for surveys and out-of-town architects and things like this any time they feel the wind change. That's never a problem, finding money to spend for something they don't want to do themselves.
I WANT to say how disgusted I was with the news coverage of the recent incident in Arena Park and how that just showed a tremendous lack of respect for the families of the people involved. I hesitated to call but decided to call because there's yet another story that seems to be glorifying suicide, making sensationalistic stories about people's tragedies. It's disgusting.
REGARDING THE Martin Luther King holiday. I'm always surprised that, in this area, half the school systems are out and the other half hold classes, even though it's the only holiday in this country honoring a black American. I think it's sad that they couldn't choose another holiday where they could make up one or two snow days. That's my opinion.
I FIND it horrifying that the Southeast Missourian would print anything on the McGill murder. It's sad when we make a murderer into a victim. His parents make such a big to-do about how much it has cost them. It's a very say day when the Southeast Missourian has to print the sufferings of a killer just to have something to print.
I'M CALLING about the circus at the Show Me Center. To me, that was the poorest circus I'd ever seen. What they had at the fair was better than that. The sound system was bad. When the ringleader spoke, you couldn't even understand what he was saying. I'll never go see them again. Everything was too expensive, too.
THE CALLER who called in the "Powers can shift" comment in Speak Out sure is another Democratic dreamer. Dream on. It'll never happen.
I'D LIKE To know who I should sue, the city or the university, for the hearing damage that is caused by the volume of the music of the Sundancers at the Show Me Center events, particularly athletic events.
GOD DOESN'T give the right to choose life or death to anyone, as the abortion talking heads say. Or, it's their body and they can do what they want with it. A woman's right to choose to kill a child is ridiculous. Where do they see this in the Bible? It says just the opposite.
