Spaghetti dinner

My wife and I went to the spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Arena Building on Wednesday evening. We had a great time. For $12 we had spaghetti dinners with cake for dessert while listening to the Jerry Ford Orchestra. Can't wait until next time.

Eyesore

I'd like to comment on the work the city has done on Broadway. I think Broadway is really looking nice, and it's beautiful until you come up on the Esquire Theater. It's an eyesore. If you're going to spend the money to make the city a better place to live, the least you can do is tear down a building that's ready to fall down. All the nice work the concrete guys did on the street really looks pretty. Just don't look up and see the Esquire.

Politicians' benefits

I have yet to hear a politician cutting their salary and benefits. It's outrageous that they can work a few years and get a ridiculously high pension for the rest of their lives. Most of us work many years before we can retire on a lot less. Why don't politicians start with themselves?

Lance Armstrong

This is in regards to Lance Armstrong. I think that's the best thing to ever happen to him. He should have to suffer the consequences. The same thing should happen to anyone who uses drugs; they should be erased from the record books and not be allowed in any hall of fame.

Money, politics

They say money is the root of all evil. They have let money take over politics. Need I say more?

Poetic justice

It's poetic justice, in a way, because Mitt Romney lost the election in part because he failed to energize white voters.

Bowen column

Talk about a straw man argument. Dr. Wayne Bowen recently tried to make the case that President Obama lacks bipartisan support for his foreign policy, and that if the president followed his advice he would "improve his unfavorable image with Republicans and Independents." By suggesting that the president base his foreign policy on political considerations instead of what's best for the national security concerns of the U.S. discredits Bowen so badly that I suggest he be suspended from discussing these matters in print while he bones up on the subject concerning which he supposedly has expertise.

Class warfare

Your president continues his class warfare by penalizing the wealthy with higher taxes. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

Jobs reports

The jobs loss claims are out for the week after the re-election of Obama, and they are disastrous! Four-hundred-thirty-nine thousand more Americans lost their jobs this week, and the lying Kool-Aid-drinking media is trying to blame these numbers on Sandy. I guess the complete collapse of the euro and Europe's economy is going to be blamed on El Niño in stead of the socialist government, which is really the cause.

Mystery photos

I enjoy the mystery photo galleries in the paper. I would love to see a photo gallery of mystery pictures solved with the information the librarian has received on the pictures.

Cape trolley

I strongly favor the mayor's call for a trolley car system in downtown Cape. It would be a dream come true to live in a right-wing San Francisco.

Junk mail

I'm really tired of going to my mailbox and finding it full of trash and junk mail. If it doesn't stop, I'm going to send it back to you.

Soft on crime

I recently testified in criminal court in Cape County and I am amazed. The prosecuting attorney's office is soft on crime, making a mockery of good detective work. The charges were plea bargained down to an innocuous offense and the judge released the defendant. There is no justice, just a real-life game show called "Let's Make a Deal," where the only ones punished are the crime victims.

Party affiliation

I think it would be kind of neat for when the police arrest you, and list your name in the paper, for them to put if you're a registered Republican or Democrat.

Limbaugh column

David Limbaugh urges conservatives to stay true to their principles while tacitly admitting the confusion running rampant in conservative ranks by not identifying the nature of said conservative principles.
