MAYOR AND city council positions in Cape Girardeau are supposed to be apolitical. If Mayor Jay Knudtson and Councilman John Voss want to endorse a particular political candidate, they need to do this as private citizens, not as mayor or councilman. While their behavior in this regard is not considered illegal, the ethics of it are certainly questionable.
I AM one of those ticket takers and assistant managers of that old theater on Broadway. Restore it and show some of the classic movies. I'll bet you will see good attendance. I too long for those days of "Gone With the Wind" and "The Wind and the Lion." Let's do something for the people of Cape Girardeau.
GO TO Haddock Street in Cape Girardeau and look at the Christmas light display on a house there. They do lights every year that use different designs. It looks like the "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" house. This family should win a prize for the most original light display. This house is bright, original and exciting.
ABOUT 2,000 people visited over the weekend to see the Village of Hope at the First Baptist Church there in Delta. It was one of the best productions I have ever seen done by a group of people who enjoy spreading the news of the season. This was a glimmer of hope for our world.
IF UNEMPLOYED Americans would do the manual labor that illegal immigrants come here to do, there would be no work for the illegal immigrants and we would not even have to pass new legislation.
I SEE the hot topic of prayer in schools is back. All I have to say is: Don't pray in my school, and I won't think in your church.
