I listened to two of our congress people, one man and one woman, on the news recently. They were asked it they would give up their check if the government shut down. Not one of them would answer the news person asking the question. After constantly being asked the question they still would not answer. That kind of Marie Antoinett arrogance is what starts revolutions.
You know when Medicare was first introduced, people were just as concerned about cost and government intrusion into their lives. Now, what would we do without it? The Affordable Care Act is law, and we need to accept that and work to fine tune it so all citizens can receive the medical care they need without fear of bankruptcy.
The city of Cape needs to buy the old federal building. It could be used as combination police station and city hall. There's a lot of room.
It would be kind of a surprise, but the Republicans could regain the upper hand by demanding that Obamacare be replaced with a single-payer system, a truly universal health-care system. Medicare for all, if you will.
I'd like to respond to our Congress and what they are not doing. I feel as if the Congress has lost sight and perspective when it comes to the good of the United States.
Can anything be done about the lady that approaches people for money? She is constantly in parking lots at the mall, movie and grocery store. She just appears at your car window telling the same story. Who can people contact about this problem? I have seen store managers ask her to leave but as soon as they go back inside she gets out her car and starts going around the parking lot.
I am so sick and tired of people blaming Obamacare for health insurance going up. It just went into effect. This is a good thing; people can get coverage for pre-existing conditions. So think about it, people. Just because you don't like President Obama doesn't mean you can't think about the good for everyone else and not just yourself.
