Just right

I have never seen the Central Municipal Pool as nice as it is right now. The air temperature is nice when we get out of the pool, and the water temperature is just right getting in. To whoever is taking care of this: Good job, and keep it up. More people should use this pool and see for themselves.

Aid paradox

SALUTATIONS to the Show Me State. Missouri was among the top five states in the nation for receipt of federally socialized property insurance money for those who live along floodways. Many of those who gladly took money for a federal flood insurance claims are paradoxically opposed to a federal option for health care insurance. Someone said, consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.

Pushing the Olympics

I'M saddened our president is more worried about the Olympic Games coming to his hometown than he is about funding our troops in Afghanistan. He and his wife are taking two planes to Copenhagen to push something that will cost this country billions of dollars while they try to push "cap and trade" down our throats.

False info

DEMOCRATS, including the president, suggested their health care reform bills would not pay for illegal [immigrants] or abortions. The president accused those disagreeing of spreading misinformation. The most recent version of the bill has no provision to prevent illegals or to ban paying for abortions. Amendments to prevent this were voted down by Democrats. Shame on Democrats and President Obama for spreading false information.

Carbon footprints?

HOW many footprints are the Obamas leaving with their world travels? Is Obama's administration seriously touting going green or not? Or is all that supposed to be the responsibility of the private citizens without including anyone in government?

Teaching respect

I have been a school bus driver. We shouldn't have to hire monitors to keep students in their seats, and bus drivers shouldn't have to do it either. Parents should teach their children, no matter what their age, to stay seated and act appropriately on the bus. I quit driving a bus because of undisciplined children. My husband and daughter have been teachers. They quit teaching because of undisciplined children. The problem is the parents who do not teach their children respect.

Pull over to talk

I think Missouri ought to pass a law that people cannot use their cell phones while they're driving. Motorists ought to pull over to do their dialing and their talking. That way they can keep their minds on the road and on other cars.

Threats, fines

IF anyone thinks they're going to strong-arm the American public into falling for a government-run insurance plan by threats of fines and jail time, consider this: The prisons are already full. What are you going to do?

Spay, neuter

INVOKING Bob Barker's words, have your pets spayed and neutered. That way when the cold winter comes we won't have all these little orphans running around looking for shelters and homes.
