Limbaugh, Royals

Rush Limbaugh can't be all that bad. In being a Royals fan, at least he knows how to pick a winner. How far does this "Cardinal Nation" go? After all, the Kansas City Royals may not be the winningest team in baseball this year, but they are from Missouri. If they ran a poll, I would bet you'd be surprised on how many people from Southeast Missouri have Kansas City Chiefs tickets compared to St. Louis Rams tickets, but that's another story. The Cardinals had a lot of injuries this year, but the Mets have had its injured players and look where they're at, and so have a lot of other teams; that's part of baseball. Go Royals!

Plant pecan trees

It is great that the city is making Capaha Park family friendly. The next step is to always plant pecan trees in the city parks. In 15 years families will be all over the park picking up pecans under beautiful trees.

Construction dust

I live in Klaus Park subdivision in Jackson. A huge area behind us is being cleared for development. Earth-moving machines have been running for weeks now, raising a cloud of dust that makes it hard to even see. Our throats are raw and our eyes burn, our homes are filthy. There can be no doubt anyone with asthma is suffering greatly. I cannot believe there is no regulation which would force the contractor to control the amount of dirt getting into our breathing air, and I cannot believe the city does not know about the situation. I suppose they feel sorry for the contractor.

Degree's worth

The biggest problem with former college students who cannot find a job. You wasted your time on a worthless degree. I know that the jokers up at the university will tell you the whole song and dance that there is no such thing as a worthless degree. But, of course, they will say that.

No roundabout

They don't need a roundabout at Independence and West Rodney. They need traffic lights like they have on Mount Auburn and Hopper Road. Most people avoid going through the roundabouts. I sure do.

Harte's assessment

Mr. Harte is completely correct in his assessment of the "Great British Baking Show" -- fantastic. Same with PBS programming. The Brits put out some fantastic shows, actors and actresses are not afraid to put their real faces on screen!

Caldron, not prize

Neoconservative hawk Charles Krauthammer is so wrong. He thinks U.S. troops should be on the ground in Syria because the Russians have intervened in the conflict. As said by Fareed Zakaria, "If Russia and Iran win, somehow, they get Syria, which is a caldron, not a prize."

Hillary, partisan

If Hillary gets elected, and I really, really hope she doesn't, we will have four more years of the extremist partisan politics that Obama has created and a continuation to a political nightmare that is called the liberal agenda. God help us prevent that.

Gas prices

When driving to St Louis Oct. 20, we noticed the following gasoline prices: Perryville, $1.99; Pevely, $1.75; St Louis, $1.89. Why are we repeatedly being gouged in Cape?
