Mixed parking signals

MY FAIR-GOING experience was ruined this year. The parking lot attendants could be better coordinated. When I was directed to go one way, another attendant motioned me forward to another parking spot. I was then shouted at by the first attendant very rudely. The whole exchange really made an impression on my out-of-town guest. So much for looking forward to fair time next year. The fair board should look into the parking situation again before concluding that everything was perfect this year. I did enjoy all the displays and thought all the 4-H displays were great as usual.

Outside dogs

WHY LIMIT the number of animals people can have inside their house? It's the animals outside that are a problem. Nothing is more annoying than a dog that barks for hours on end while its owners are away. That is a real problem.

Help pick up trash

IF YOU have the privilege of owning a business and you're getting exposure from that business from people being along the parade route, why not help pick up the garbage?

Voting education

PLEASE DO your homework. Don't let the media decide your vote. I grew up in a well-known family of a certain political party. For as long as I can remember, I've heard bad things about the opposing party and why our party was better. I did my homework. I must say, I am ashamed and shocked at what both parties will say and do just to get a vote. Vote your heart and your mind, not your family's preference, not the media's. Please vote. No one knows who you vote for or which party you vote for.

Thanks for changes

I WOULD just like to compliment Cape Girardeau and its officials and engineers for making the changes at Mount Auburn Road and the Lexington Avenue-Kingshighway intersection with the turn lanes. Thank you very much. We appreciate it. Keep up the good work in places we need it.

CBS is too liberal

FOR ME to watch CBS News with Dan Rather, you'd have to tie me to a chair with duct tape and tape my eyes open. I'm sure he's a nice man, but he's no anchor. CBS News is so liberal it disgusts me.

Fresh fruit only

LET'S BE real. Fast-food restaurant are not going to give customers a choice between french fries and apples, because they'd have to keep apples in their refrigerator and they'd also have to keep the french fry machine. It would be better if a restaurant offered fresh fruit only. It wouldn't have to keep that grease frying and could sell the apples less expensively than french fries. That's the real solution.

Wife is a liability

HAS DAVID Limbaugh ever served in the war effort? How dare he criticize John Kerry? There's nothing bizarre about Kerry's candidacy. The only thing hurting Kerry is his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. She just doesn't have what it takes to be a president's wife.

Ridiculous lane changes

WHOEVER DESIGNED the Mount Auburn Road-Lexington Avenue-Kingshighway lane changes made a really ridiculous improvement. Now when you come from Mount Auburn, there are two lanes going across Kingshighway. Almost immediately after the intersection, the right lane merges into the left. Nobody seems to know what to do. We've got people pulling over in front of the people in the other lane. They don't merge correctly. There needs to be two lanes on Lexington.

Poor treatment at fair

MY FAMILY and I along with some friends and their children attended the SEMO District Fair Saturday. We picked this day because, according to the fair Web site, it was armband day from noon to 5 p.m. Once we arrived, we were told it was a mistake on the Web site and it was not armband day. A member of the fair board was very uncooperative and unsympathetic. We were given two free tickets for each child, but we were treated poorly. My family will not be attending the fair next year.
