Despite the discouraging national unemployment news, Cape Girardeau has reason to celebrate with the recent announcement that National Asset Recovery Services will be adding at least 100 new positions, the majority of which will be based in the Cape Girardeau call center.

Chris Buehrle, Cape Girardeau native and founder of NARS, made the announcement recently noting that the new positions will bring the workforce to over 600 people in Cape Girardeau.

The workforce news came as the company celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new playground at the Cape Girardeau facility's day care, which is now open to the public. The playground additions were made possible because of a $30,000 Missouri Child Care Facility Improvement grant and about $3,000 raised by the company's employees.

We join area leaders in the excitement over the new positions to be filled in Cape Girardeau. Private sector growth is a positive thing. More local jobs means more local dollars to be spent in the area.

Special congratulations to NARS founder Chris Buehrle. The success of NARS is in large part due to this gentleman's leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

We congratulate NARS on its expansion and also thank the many other entrepreneurs who drive private sector growth in Southeast Missouri. Our local economy is the beneficiary of your leadership.
