To the Editor,
In view of the recent editorial and letter from John Campbell, I have the following questions I would like publicly answered. I believe these questions may help clarify the situation about the present superintendent and school board.
1. What specific accomplishments has Dr. Clark achieved during his present contract period? What positive activities has he initiated that are functioning in the Cape school system? How have these accomplishments improved the education of the students at all levels?
2. What specifically are the criteria to be used to evaluate Dr. Clark? Did the form come from the Missouri School Board Association or another source? Who, other than the school board members, will contribute to the information used to evaluate the success or failure of meeting the criteria? Does the C.T.A. have input?
3. In view of the frequent socializing between the school board members and the superintendent, how do the board members intend to ensure an honest evaluation of this employee of the school system?
Because of the negative perspective of many in the community and the school system, I am very interested to hear any factual, positive aspects that can be substantiated. It is also important to identify what safeguards there are that the community can trust the school board to fairly evaluate the effectiveness and competency of the present administration.
