LETTERS: QUALITY OF LIFE COVERAGE IS APPRECIATED

The purpose of this letter is to thank you for the tremendous coverage you provided on our annual Quality of Life Indicators for Progress publication. For the second time, you have chosen to do an entire series on this topic, and for that we are extremely grateful.

Most communities simply talk about their wonderful quality of life and don't provide any supporting information. The Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce is rather unique in actually producing a document which clearly spells out both the positives and the opportunities for improvement. However, our effort becomes much more effective when local media choose to focus on this information. Your examination and subsequent report of the findings is an asset to the project.

Though we may have some minor disagreements with the statistical information, we both understand that a community's image is greatly affected by media coverage and presentation. Thanks again for your excellent reporting of Cape's quality of life, and we look forward to continuing a community partnership with the Southeast Missourian.
