The approval of the April 3 bond issue is once again evidence of continued support for the children of the Oak Ridge School District.

This district is small but progressive. It strives to provide optimum educational opportunities. The district -- 127 years strong -- has always been proud of its traditions and extremely interested in the success of its students. Voter support is evidence of this.

Approval of the $1.95 million bond issue enables the district to purchase much needed land that will be used for expansion of district services today as well as into the future. Students at all grade levels will benefit from the new middle school and multipurpose building. The additional classroom space will allow the growing elementary school to expand into space currently being used by secondary students. The additional parking areas to be developed will provide much safer travel on school property during school hours as well as at numerous evening events.

Voter approval enables the district to better meet the needs and interests of students, teachers and patrons as the communities in the district -- Oak Ridge, Daisy, Friedheim and Old Appleton -- continue to grow. The voters' efforts are appreciated.
