LETTERS: MBA HAS NO STAND ON GUN ISSUE

To the editor:

In response to the letter printed in the Southeast Missourian, I would like to make some corrections regarding the position of the Missouri Bankers Association and the right-to-carry issue.

Contrary to the printed letter:

-- The Missouri Bankers Association is officially neutral on this issue. Our board of directors took this position Feb. 2.

-- The MBA has never solicited funds for this issue. Our board has directed that we expend no resources either for or against this referendum.

-- The MBA has never requested depositor lists from our member banks.

I just wanted to set the record straight.
