To the editor:

On behalf of Franklin Elementary School's students, staff and parents, I want to thank the Cape Girardeau Board of Education and the citizens of Cape Girardeau for making possible the renovations to our school. Franklin has been a meaningful part of family life in our community since 1927. Friends made, academic successes achieved and memorable experiences shared at Franklin have made it an important landmark. The addition and the interior update have significantly enhanced the facility. These enhancements will enable the staff to better meet the needs of current and future students.

The Franklin family sends its warmest thanks to the architectural firm of Holshouser & Herbst for planning such efficient use of our additional and existing space. We are also most grateful to Sides Construction Co. for its excellent construction practices and for being sensitive to our needs during the building process. The school maintenance team also has earned our sincere gratitude for its constant support.

Several businesses donated items to complete our facelift. Hutson's Furniture donated three wonderful new chairs for the office area. Patrick's Furniture donated a couch for the teachers' workroom. Rent to Own donated end tables and a coffee table for the teachers' workroom.
