LETTERS: ARTS COUNCIL: YES

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri enthusiastically supports the Seminary Redevelopment Project. We believe the project represents a rare opportunity to provide the community with broad-based, high-quality arts programming. As many residents in the community know, the lack of adequate facilities for arts education and presentations has always been a problem. Not only will the River Campus give rise to many new and exciting experiences, but it will also provide the space in which our programs will grow and diversify. Reaching new audiences is one of the most positive outcomes we see stemming from this project.

As the saying goes, timing is everything. The Arts Council views this moment as the one which holds the greatest potential for success. The project is being led by a university president whose goals and track record indicate he is dedicated to enhancing the cultural climate in the region for the entire community. The Arts Council endorses this proposal which will bring together organizations and individuals in a shared effort to make Cape Girardeau a better place to live.

The Seminary Redevelopment Project is an opportunity for Southeast Missouri which should not be missed.
