To the editor:
We have been reminded lately of the Oklahoma City bombing where so many were killed. We see programs on television of how Hitler killed and tortured the Jewish people. We see movies of all those who have been killed in wars. We hear about the Unabomber, and we are horrified. How can anyone treat our fellow humans this way? God has made us all in his image and likeness, and each one has a soul. He has given us two rights: the right to life and the right to eternal life in heaven after death if we live our life the way he has commanded. How dare anyone take the first right away. We are appalled at the thought of it.
Yet are we not all guilty of the very same act? Every year we kill millions of preborn babies by abortion. Why are we any different from the others who have killed? Could it be that we do not see what occurs where a tiny person is killed by abortion?
Our liberal television newsmen are very willing to show us all other surgeries, but they will not show us what happens when the smallest of us all have their lives taken away. Could it be because they favor some women's rights over all babies' rights?
Every time we vote for a candidate who is pro-abortion or votes for laws favoring abortion, every time we don't speak out for everyone's right to live when we are challenged, and when we fail to pray for the babies, their mothers and those who kill them, we become willing accomplices.
Thank God that he has provided us with Pope John Paul II, good priests, bishops and ministers who guide us on our journey through life.
