Another lame proposal before this year's General Assembly is one that would allow police to stop and ticket motorists for not wearing a seat belt. Currently, motorists can only be ticketed for seat-belt violations if they are stopped for other reasons.
Proponents say the main concern is safety. Baloney. The main concern is $2 million in additional highway safety funds promised by the federal government if the state passes such a law.
Missourians at least are entitled to a little honesty in this case.
