It is very sad that Alan Journet is so isolated in academia that he cannot relate to mainstream America. Unfortunately, his political biases are evident in his classroom.

Perhaps it is time for Journet to realize that those of us whom he seems to despise are the same people who are asked to donate to the university where he teaches.

I can proudly say I am an environmentalist and voted Republican. Journet describes my vote as a vote for extremism. Journet's distrust of corporate America makes my vote "extremist." This viewpoint is bizarre. One of the jobs of Southeast Missouri State University is to educate students to participate in corporate America. Each year Southeast honors alumni who have succeeded in corporate America.

My vote was for morality in politics, a crackdown on illegal immigration and a policy to protect the future. I don't think mainstream America considers those ideas extremist.
