To the editor:
Recently, our family was dealt a dose of bad luck, having experienced a fire at our shop and warehouse in the Jackson Industrial Park on Lenco Avenue.
The good news is not one was seriously hurt. We hope the two firemen who had minor injuries have fully recovered. While there is substantial material damage, it can be repaired in time.
We take this opportunity to thank friends, family and community for their response to our adversity. We are deeply appreciative of whoever made the first 911 call, to those who carried out things late into the night and, most of all, to the many fire personnel of Jackson and the surrounding area.
As one fire professional put it, "This was a great stop for the Jackson Fire Department."
For that we are forever indebted and say thanks to the Jackson Fire Department for its immediate and effective response.
While we will never be able to repay the many who have and continue to respond with help, we do send out our heartfelt thanks to all.
Perhaps the slogan for Jackson should be changed to "City of Beautiful Homes, Churches, Schools and Parks -- and Home to the Nicest People Anywhere With the Best Fire Department Ever."JOE, ROBIN THOMPSON
