To the editor:
We need to thank Gov. Bob Holden for his leadership during these difficult financial times. He has put forth a plan that will balance the budget without sacrificing our state's future. At the same time, his plan will stimulate Missouri's economy. I was very happy to see that he was cutting the corporate tax rate by one percentage point and declaring a sales-tax holiday. I think cutting the corporate tax rate will enable corporations to hire more employees and pump more money into the economy. I think the sales-tax holiday will attract not only shoppers from Missouri, but also shoppers from the surrounding states that might not have shopped here previously. We should encourage the state legislature to work with him on solving this financial crisis.
