To the editor: On most days we move from one activity to the next with little awareness of our surroundings. The people we meet don't always stand out as special. The weather rarely catches our attention. And our homes and offices are so familiar we rarely take notice of the safety and warmth they offer us...

To the editor:

On most days we move from one activity to the next with little awareness of our surroundings. The people we meet don't always stand out as special. The weather rarely catches our attention. And our homes and offices are so familiar we rarely take notice of the safety and warmth they offer us.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a kind man named John Tlapek comes along and reminds you that everything matters, especially the little moments we get to share with children.

My heart is full and I am inspired to work with all who want to follow Tlapek's example of helping children.

We might not always remember the days, but special moments will never be forgotten.
